Finding the cheapest fuel near you
Since February 2026 every UK forecourt must report its prices within 30 minutes of a change, through the government's Fuel Finder scheme. Search those prices by postcode. These habits save the most:
- Supermarket forecourts are usually cheaper than motorway services, often by a wide margin.
- Diesel is 25.80p a litre dearer than petrol this week, which matters if you have a choice of car for a long trip.
- Keep the tank at least half full in winter and before storms. Forecourt pumps need electricity too. What else is worth keeping in the car: a car emergency kit.
